Snow Day

My snow day entailed a fire, snuggling on the couch with the dogs and lots of time on the internet. It felt like New York Fashion Week in my living room with all my live streaming activity.

Good news...designers are not showing anything totally new for next fall/winter. I think they finally get it - women want wearable options in beatiful fabrics and finishes that compliment other items in our closets.

There are subtle differences, but for the most part, what you are wearing now you can wear again next fall and winter without shame. Think oversized sweaters, relaxed pants and black...lots and lots of black.

Just a few tweaks to consider before September hits:

  • Color pallette - the runways were infused with a 70's color pallete, think mustards, burgundy's, teal, creams and army green. If those don't suit you, black and white was everywhere as well as navy and red.

  • Jumpsuits - try wearing the one you have sans belt and relaxed. Jumpsuits were still shown, but are not as tailored as they have been in past seasons.

  • Add a midi - now. If you don't have this length pant (cullotte), skirt, (fit and flare or draped) or dress, get one (or some). However, unless you are super tall, wear this length with some sort of heel to elongate your leg.

And the best part, most of these looks are currently availble, and are often on sale. Buy and wear them now and next fall/winter. Win-win.

- Always in Style
