Don't look now, but the holidays are here. The music is playing at the mall - trees, ornaments and gift wrapping have taken over store shelves. This time of the year time seems to travel more quickly and everything seems hurried, including getting dressed.
If you are like me, you receive holiday party invites and set them aside until days before when you discover you have nothing to wear. I've been there - learn from my mistakes - don't go out and buy a new dress/outfit for the occasion - you are too rushed and inevitably buy something that is ill-fitting, you won't wear again and is expensive. I finally learned my lesson and started investing in timeless items that can be worn in various ways for various occasions. Look for these pieces throughout the year when you have the time to concentrate on fit and function. Separates work best - a tuxedo (or even just a jacket), black leather trousers, afull skirt. Pair these items with sweaters, blouses or a funky t-shirt depending on the event. All these items can be dressed up for the holidays without much thought and can be found in various styles to fit your body type. A few tips for shopping: stick to classic lines so restyling is a breeze, invest as much as you can afford, and make sure items fit properly. If cared for, these pieces should hang in your closet for many years. You have enough to worry about during the holidays - with these tools you can cross finding the perfect outfit off the list. - Always in Style
